Lenten Season 2017

Lenten Regulations on Abstinence and Fasting

During the Season of Lent the following regulations for abstinence and fasting must be observed:

Abstinence from meat is observed on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all the Fridays of Lent by all Catholics 14 years and older. Fasting is observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday by all Catholics between the ages of 18 – 59 years old. Those bound by this rule may take only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted as necessary to maintain strength according to one’s needs, but eating between meals in not permitted.

 

Lenten Season

 

March 1st Ash Wednesday 

–9:00am Mass, 12:15pm Scripture Service, 4:30pm Scripture Service, 6:30pm Mass. Distribution of Ashes at each Mass and Service.


February 11th Our Lady of Lourdes

–9:00am Mass (World Day of the Sick) Papal Blessing, Veneration of the rock from Lourdes and anointing of the sick

 

Fridays of Lent

-Stations of the Cross 2:00pm & 7:00pm

-Confessions beginning at 6:30pm during Stations of the Cross

-Lenten Fish Dinner by the Catholic Men In Fellowship 5pm-7pm in the Parish Hall

 

March 5th First Sunday of Lent

-Regular Mass schedule - 7am, 9am (bilingual), 10:45am, 12:30pm 

-RCIA Rite of Sending 10:45am Mass.


March 12th Second Sunday of Lent

-Regular Sunday Mass Schedule - 7am, 9am (bilingual), 10:45am, 12:30pm 

 

Thursday March 16th Communal Penance Service 7pm


March 19th Third Sunday of Lent

-Regular Sunday Mass Schedule - 7am, 9am (bilingual), 10:45am, 12:30pm

-RCIA First Scrutiny at the 7am Mass. 

 

March 26th Fourth Sunday of Lent 

-Regular Sunday Mass Schedule - 7am, 9am (bilingual), 10:45am, 12:30pm 

-RCIA Second Scrutiny at the 10:45am Mass.

 

April 2nd Fifth Sunday of Lent

-Regular Sunday Mass Schedule - 7am, 9am (bilingual), 10:45am, 12:30pm 

-RCIA Third Scrutiny at the 12:30pm Mass.

   

April 9th Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion

-Regular Sunday Mass Schedule - 7am, 9am (bilingual), 10:45am, 12:30pm 

 

Thursday, April 13th Holy Thursday - Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper

-Mass 7pm , Transfer of the Most Blessed Sacrament to the Altar of Repose in the Parish Hall; Adoration until 12 midnight

-PLEASE NOTE: There is no 9am Daily Mass

 

April 14th Good Friday - Friday of the Passion of the Lord, Friday 

-Adoration of the Holy Cross and Communion 3pm (bilingual).

-PLEASE NOTE: There is no 9am Daily Mass, no Stations of the Cross. Office and Gift Shop Closed

 

Saturday, April 15th The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night

-Mass 9:00pm only

-PLEASE NOTE: There is no 9am and 4:30 Mass, no Confessions

 

April 16th Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord 

-Regular Sunday Mass Schedule - 7am, 9am (bilingual), 10:45am, 12:30pm

April 16th Feast of St. Bernadette - This year the Feast of St. Bernadette is superseded by the Easter Celebration of the Ressurection of Our Lord.
